What is Title I?

Title I is a federally funded program. The   federal government provides money to the state, the state in turn gives money to the school district, and the District distributes the funds to the school. The District identifies eligible schools based on the economics of the student body. The school is then to spend the money based on the educational needs of the students.

How does your child qualify to receive Title I program services?

Students are identified as being eligible for Title I assistance primarily based on test scores from the California Standardized Test (CST).  Students scoring at Basic, Below Basic and Far Below Basic in the areas of English and Math are identified as Title I students.  CST’s are given every spring and the results are mailed home in the summer.  These test scores are the determining factors on how we are graded from the state and federal government.

What will Title I do for my child?

The Title I program will provide your child with extra educational assistance beyond the regular classroom.
